Dundee Colleges Involvement in the Project

Dundee College is fully committed to help boost the tourist trade across the whole of Tayside. The objective of the Targeting Tayside initiative is to make training and other resources available to the industry and to trainees, to raise the levels of skill, customer care and job opportunities in this area.

Through the Targeting Tourism initiative, the college is encouraging an innovative approach to curriculum development and the establishment and enhancement of industry links within the Tayside area.

The college is working in partnership agreement with the Dundee and Angus Hotels and Restaurant Association. The two bodies have signed an agreement to work collaboratively to develop an adequately trained workforce. This has included a comprehensive Training Needs Analysis which has led to the development of a short course which is being offered to all college students interested in hotel, restaurant and bar work. Paid work placements for students and staff exchanges have also been arranged as a direct result of working in partnership with the Association. The launch of the Tayside Tourism Development Centre at Dundee College is the next phase of the Targeting Tourism initiative.
